Broad Prosperity at Tilburg University
In conversation with the Tilburg University City Professor
On February 27, a public conversation with Ton Wilthagen, Tilburg University City Professor, took place. Together with the municipality of Tilburg, he is working on the future trajectory Tilburg 2050. For this, he engaged in dialogue with residents of Tilburg about the main challenges and opportunities for the city. During the meeting, themes such as social cohesion, employment, and sustainable urban development were discussed, applying the lens of broad prosperity to guide towards a future-proof Tilburg.

Recap: Mini-symposium ‘Broad Prosperity in a Densely Populated Delta’
Nature versus agriculture, ecology versus economy. Sometimes it seems like we have to choose, but is that really the case? During the mini-symposium on February 27, farmers, other citizens, experts, policymakers, and researchers came together to discuss how agriculture and nature can be better aligned and how area-oriented collaboration can contribute to broad prosperity. The meeting was a follow-up to the double inaugural address of Joks Janssen and Hans Mommaas.

Student papers: broad prosperity in the Brainport region
Students of the master Public Governance investigated how crucial transitions in the Brainport region – in the areas of the labor market, health, social cohesion, and housing – can be accelerated. Their findings are compiled in a report with concrete policy proposals. The student report was handed over to Brainport Development during a visit to Tilburg University on February 24.

€3.7 million for research into skills-oriented labor market
Researchers from Tilburg University and the Academic Collaborative Center for an Inclusive Labor Market are starting a major research project into a skills-oriented approach to recruitment, selection, and training. The project is carried out in collaboration with Erasmus University Rotterdam and partners from the energy sector.

Public lecture 10 April canceled
The public lecture Broad Prosperity 'Limits to capitalism' on April 10 has been canceled due to the Higher Education action day. On April 10, staff and students of Tilburg University will protest and strike to get budget cuts off the table and prevent further cuts in the upcoming government period.
